Sirayane Is An Oasis Near A Bustling Marrakech

The Sirayane Boutique is a secluded boutique style hotel that only houses 50 people at a time. This makes your stay more personable and avoids the clutter of tour groups, and allows the eager staff to be more accommodating.

GENERALLY SPEAKING Designed by famous Algerian architect Imaad Rahmouni, this walled contemporary escape is surrounded by the vista views of the Atlas Mountains and punctuated by meticulously maintained gardens. Upon our arrival, an endlessly cheery hotel staff met us, and while our bags were being brought to our room we enjoyed a pot of Maghrebi-style mint tea. This 5-star treatment was exactly what we needed after a long flight to Casablanca and the substantial drive to Marrakech that followed. After we finished our tea we were given a tour of the grounds, and then escorted to our room.

LOCATION The Sirayane is truly an oasis that exists 10 minutes away from the madness of bustling Marrakech. Entering into the city limits of Marrakech, the driving became very intense. It is very reminiscent of the tension of NASCAR, if motorbikes, trucks, and freaked out donkeys replaced racecars. Our driver had this incredible sixth sense about him; he navigated through chaotic intersections like it was nothing. As we turned down one narrow dirt road to another, we eventually came to a huge compound. As we drove through two big wooden doors we were introduced to the gorgeous Sirayane Boutique Hotel and Spa.

ROOMS The 28 rooms and suites offer many different amenities depending on what you desire. There are 8 rooms in the main building with a private terrace, 16 mini-suites with a private garden, two junior suites with private garden and private pool, and two deluxe suites with a private garden and pool. All rooms have a contemporary design with accents of red and yellow art that incorporates beautiful Arabic calligraphy among the soft gray color palette. When we arrived at our Junior Suite, I realized it wasn’t just a room, but our own private Villa. The room was covered in rose petals and towels manipulated into heart shapes. The romantic gesture was a perfect welcome. The bathroom was huge, and surrounded by windows. When you showered, it felt like you were showering outside in the garden. Don’t worry; the high clay walls around the suite saved you from anyone else peering in. The private pool was the best part of this room, we were able to sun bathe in silence and privacy.

DRINKING & DINING As a part of the available Honeymoon package, we took advantage of the traditional Moroccan dinner as we looked out onto the main swimming pool and gardens. I had the chicken and olives tagine, it was the perfect way to be introduced to the country, for it was delicious. We also enjoyed a bottle of Guerrouane Rose, the Moroccan made wine found a few hours North in the country’s celebrated Meknes wine region. In fact, we enjoyed the wine so much, that we decided to have another bottle in the Zen inspired Lounge Bar after dinner.

DOWNTIME We took advantage of the gym facilities to run off our overconsumption of tagine from the night before, and took our place among the sun worshippers and lounged by the pool.
The Sirayane Spa offers hammam scrubs, massages, waxing, hand and foot care, facials, and hair care. As part of our Honeymoon package, we took advantage of his and her Hammam body scrubs and a 30-minute massage. Perhaps we got a little too relaxed as the spa attendees gently woke us up after relaxing our way into a short nap.

VALUE From 129 Euros per night.
