Visiting Australia can be a fascinating experience. For travelers hailing from the Northern Hemisphere, a visit Down Under can transform a winter journey into a summertime trip, as the average temperature on the Australian continent in December is around 75. A land of stark landscapes and inspiring natural wonders, Australia is also home to unique animals found nowhere else on earth—including the platypus, the wombat and the wallaby. And this December, another species (less rare than the indigenous Australian varieties) will descend upon the country: the meetings and events planner.
Tourism Australia has just announced that Virgin Australia has become a platinum sponsor for Dreamtime 2013, the annual event held to spotlight the plethora of incentive experiences the country offers.
Approximately 100 international business events decision makers and members of the international media will be invited to Dreamtime 2013, which will be held in Melbourne December 9–13. Attendees will be offered educational tours, networking events and other samplings of the amenities available for meetings planners who choose Australia as the location for an upcoming business event.
As the first airline sponsor for the event, Virgin Australia will provide international flights for buyers from Australia’s key international markets as well as all domestic travel for attendees. The sponsorship highlights the growing partnership between Tourism Australia and Virgin Australia.
“Ninety-nine per cent of visitors to Australia arrive by air, and so Tourism Australia works closely with airlines both overseas and domestically to fill the seats that are currently available,” said Andrew McEvoy, managing director of Tourism Australia. “Dreamtime is our opportunity to showcase Australia as a business events destination to international buyers, and so it is fitting that we have Virgin Australia on board as a platinum event sponsor to help us demonstrate all that Australia has to offer.”
The event will include educational visits to a variety of locations around Australia, including Adelaide, Cairns, the Gold Coast, Sydney and Uluru.
“We are proud to be the platinum airline sponsor of Dreamtime 2013,” said Judith Crompton, CCO of Virgin Australia. “This national tourism event will showcase some of the best our country has to offer. Thanks to our alliance partnerships with some of the world’s leading airlines, we are able to facilitate a seamless travel experience to Australia from over 400 international destinations.”
